Phantom Abyss is a massive asynchronous multiplayer game that casts players into procedurally-generated temples and tasks them with retrieving the sacred relics hidden within deadly chambers. Intrepid adventurers will dodge scores of hidden traps, leap treacherous chasms, and flee relentless guardians through branching paths until one of the relics are claimed or the devices of death overwhelm them. Be warned, you only get one attempt at each temple and failure or settling for a lesser relic means you will never see that temple again... The cleverest players will use the phantom runs of failed attempts from other players to their advantage and avoid the missteps and mistakes that led to their doom. Asynchronous Multiplayer Explore the perilous halls and colossal rooms of each temple alongside the phantoms of fallen players that came before you.
However, players who deploy it as a pass-the-controller experience at their next party will almost certainly get a lot out of it. This is an excellent game to play with a few friends after a drink or two, with everyone taking a run and passing the controls on when they either die or complete a level. If you aren't good at juking the Devouring Rage, you can use this if you end up cornered. Best use against the Eye of Agony is in tight spaces or trap-filled rooms, where your movement is heavily restricted.

The most obvious step forward is via claiming the relic at the end of a temple, which is then placed upon one of the dozens of altars in the starting hub section. What isn’t immediately clear are the requirements for unlocking unique relics, as different tiers are reserved for deeper dives into the temple, or by completing runs defended Phantom Abyss Speedrun by each of the three guardian types.
It may not sound particularly overpowered at first, but Long Whip grants you excellent horizontal and vertical movement, and can allow you to blitz safely through entire rooms of hazards, especially when used in conjunction with Wings.
Cool gimmick in that you see the phantoms of other players as they go through the same traps that you are, however I have played a few temples that are either new or randomly generated and there are just...no other phantoms?
